The Secret to KNOWING
The three questions students always ask me are:
How do I know?
How do I trust that I know?
and...
Did healing really happen?
And my answer is - don’t worry, you’ll know.
And it’s true!
But of course there’s more to the story than that.
How do I KNOW?
well…
Years ago, in the blink of an eye - the elegant master that he was, Guru Dev Singh confirmed to me that I KNEW.
He was teaching a weekend workshop in Berlin. It was a beautiful, sunny winter day - not at all typical to this grey city I had just moved to. As always, the class was full of yoginis and yogis, wearing the best of their white clothes.
Guru Dev called another student to sit with him on stage.
“What is his problem?” he asked. Then he pointed at me…
Without pausing to think, I pointed at the area of my body where the spleen was. I did well - that's what he wanted to see: zero hesitation, direct response - NO MIND.
Guru Dev did not as much as nod in approval. He looked away and forward to the crowd, and continued demonstrating - working on the man’s spleen.
That day, he confirmed to me that I KNEW. This fleeting moment of effortless flow had been of paramount importance for me. I learned to trust myself.
Then, of course, is the long and winding road of practice - and the accumulated wisdom of experience.
My answer that afternoon was not a lucky guess. It was the result of many years of study and practice. Either way -
THE ART OF KNOWING IS ONE OF THE HEALER’S MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS.
and when you work remotely - learning and cultivating it is vital.
Assessing the efficacy of one's work is obviously important - and it's easy enough to rely on clients' feedback:
"My headache is gone!
how did you do it...?
I feel so much better!
You're such a great healer..."
(happy healer’s ego... 💃)
But the truth is…
Knowing is not about what your clients share with you.
HEALERS KNOW THOUGH THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE.
It's simple.
When you recognize that you are always working with your inner reality - when you become confident in that -
essentially, you cannot be wrong.
Let me repeat that: essentially, you cannot be wrong.
How amazing is that? :)
The trick is to refine your perception, and to make it a crystal clear mirror of whatever it relates to - and of whatever you choose to heal -
AND TO ALWAYS REMEMBER TO LOOK WITHIN…
mirror, mirror on my inner wall…
